This Nanasimgit plaque/panel was hand-carved in 1990 by Haida artist Jerome Parnell. It has been carved in argillite and features 3 inlays of mother-of-pearl. It was purchased from a collector and is in very good condition.

This carving represents the Haida Story where Nanasimgit saves his wife from the Undersea World, to which a Killer Whale had kidnapped and taken her.

The carving measures approximately 5 1/2 inches or 14 centimeters long, 2 1/4 inches or 5 3/4 centimeters wide, and 1/2 of an inch or 1 1/4 centimeters deep.
