This Shark pendant is hand-carved in yellow cedar by Haida artist Leon Ridley.

The Dogfish or Shark Symbol represents independence and decisiveness. The Dogfish is a common crest amongst the Haida people and is often depicted with a downturned mouth, sharp teeth and round eyes. They are solitary creatures, often feared by those who spend time on the open sea.

The pendant, excluding the bail, measures approximately 1 1/2 inches or 3 3/4 centimeters high, 3/4 of an inch or 1 3/4 centimeters wide, and 3/8 of an inch or 1 centimeter thick.
