These Heart Stud Earrings have been hand-carved in argillite by Haida artist Amy Edgars.

Argillite is a very rare medium - there is only one argillite quarry in Canada, and it is in Haida Gwaii. The Haida own the exclusive rights to use argillite and it has become a sculptural tradition among Haida people.

Each earring measures approximately 3/4 of an inch or 2 centimeters wide, 3/4 of an inch or 2 centimeters high, and about 1/8 inch or 1/2 centimeter thick, not including the silver metal backing.
