Ron's dish/platter highlights how contemporary artists study historical master carvers to expand their skills, honoring traditional artistry while exploring new creative approaches. The inner side of Ron's dish takes inspiration from one of Edenshaw's plates, while the outer side interprets another. Ron adapted both compositions to fit the circular form as opposed to the oval form while retaining the intricate details. A bold departure from the original works is Ron's addition of a central face, a bold focal point that energizes the piece. The integration of bone and abalone throughout further enhances its visual impact, adding contrast and texture.

The argillite platter measures approximately 6 3/4 inches or 17 centimeters in diameter and 7/8 of an inch or 2 1/4 centimeters deep. When resting on the base, the platter and base together measure approximately 6 3/4 inches or 17 centimeters wide, 7 inches or 18 centimeters high, and 5 inches or 13 centimeters deep.
