Product Description

This small Raven Dancer sculpture is hand-carved in argillite and features one inlay of abalone. It was purchased from a collector and is in very good condition. While it is unsigned, it is believed to have been carved by Haida artist Jerome Parnell in the early 1990's. The carving features a human figure adorned in regalia and a Raven headdress.

Mischievous and curious, the Raven plays many important roles in Pacific Northwest Coast Culture. For some, he symbolizes creation, transformation, knowledge, prestige as well as the complexity of nature and the subtlety of truth. He also symbolizes the unknown and shows that every person sees the world in a different way.
